I am writing this as I am sitting in the hospital waiting for my husband who is having shoulder replacement surgery
.
Today I am thinking about Jehovah Rapha, God, our healer! (Exodus 15:26)
"Saying, "If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, your healer."
Jehovah-Rapha has the power to heal physically, “Elisha did not show his face to Naaman, but instead sent instructions: “Wash yourself in the Jordan River seven times. The waters will heal you, and your skin will be back to normal. You will be cleansed.” (2 Kings 5:10), emotionally, “When someone is hurting or brokenhearted, the Eternal moves in close and revives him in his pain.” (Psalm 34:18), mentally “When these days of exile came to an end, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up toward heaven and came to my senses. I blessed the Most High God and praised and gave glory to the One who lives eternally: “His reign will endure forever; His kingdom will last from generation to generation. (Daniel 4:34), and spiritually “ O my soul, come, praise the Eternal; sing a song from a grateful heart; sing and never forget all the good He has done. Despite all your many offenses, He forgives and releases you. More than any doctor, He heals your diseases. (Psalm 103:2–3).
Today as I write this I need all of God’s healing. Physically, I am asking for God to heal my husband after his surgery. I also want emotional healing. I love that God comes close to us when we are brokenhearted. I am also praying for both my husband's and my mental health in this season of recovery both being a patient and a caregiver can weigh on your mental health. And yes, spiritual healing--more than any doctor, He heals our diseases. I am so thankful for God’s grace and forgiveness!
What type of healing do you need today? May you find it in God’s loving arms as He draws near to you!
P.S. Dave is on day 5 of his healing. Please keep him and me as I am caring for him in your prayers. One of Dave’s friends set up this Gofundme to help us during this time when Dave will not be able to preach. Fundraiser for Dave Jenkins
